About Me:

I am a web designer, ex-musician, ailurophile, gothic, 40-something German gal who came to live on Lanzarote in February 2004 after spending 20 years living and working (last job in a law firm) in London and having had enough of being a slave to the "rat race". I have never looked back since and have never been happier.

I am "married" to my 3 cats, Lugosi, Spider & Ruby - if you can´t accept that, then tough. I like nice, friendly, honest people who speak their mind, but at the end of the day I am glad I have a quiet, peaceful haven to relax at, where it´s only me and my feline company.

I have suffered from fibromyalgia since 1992, and have had rheumatoid arthritis (ouch!) since about May 2007. The fibromyalgia is another reason why I moved here - less stress means less pain and fatigue, plus the warm weather helps! :)

The medical treatment I have had here under the national health care is on about the same level as the NHS in the UK, and it´s brilliant that Spain also has a free national health care system.

I work part-time as a web & graphic designer for Charlie´s Bar (www.charlieslanzarote.com), but am currently looking for a second part-time job to make end´s meet.

Weather

The weather is so depressing at the mo. I think I need anti-bad-weather-depression medication! I can´t imagine how and why I lived for so long with crappy weather like that back in Germany and the UK. At least it never lasts long here and it´s warm too. Well, "warmish" - long sleeves for me the first time today - without the sun and in the wind it was rather nippy. When you´re acclimatised, that is!!!!

Humidity & Arthritis

Humidity nice and low at around 60% today, around 30C in the shade. Gorgeous. :)

Great weather to kill my rheumatoid arthritis, yey!!!

The few days this week when it rained, I had an acute flare up and was in so much pain I had go to the emergency clinic because of extreme pain in my knee radiating right down into my toes, I couldn´t walk or bend my leg, and had to get an injection of corticosteroids and anti-inflammatories.... feel much better now though. :)

RAIN!

Bloody hell, it´s been pelting down with rain for the last 45 mins but it seems to have stopped now. This is the first time this year it has rained more than just a few minutes here (in Puerto del Carmen at least)....

It´s on 06:10 and I´m going back to bed now!

many thanks for your comment, lol. I think in winter I really look a little bit like a ghost :-O and sometimes I also feel a bit like a goth. By the way, my favorite group is the Toten Hosen, ok, they are not really punk anymore but I think they are still great!
