Lanzarote information by people who know Lanzarote

I can't understand why people seem to think that Playa Blanca is boring. There are at least 3 lovely beaches, loads of restaurants and bars, quite a lot of shops, and wonderful walks especially now that the coastal path goes all the way from the lighthouse to Marina Rubicon and beyond. I think that Playa Blanca has an advantage also in that once you have crossed the dual carriageway,( which can be pretty hairy I will admit) all of the attractions and the beaches are safe to get to, there is not a busy road separating the beach from the town. Anyone agree? (or disagree?)

Hello we are from Basildon, We love Playa Blanca and never get bored. Its really quiet and very peacefully. The newest villa start growing more and more surrounding the area of Faro Park and Shagrlia Park. Its more that it is quieter than Puerto del Carmen. Their is alots people who went there for a quieter life and more cleaner villas to stay in Playa Blanca.

Did you notices in Puerto del Carmen have alots selfish people's who keep throwing chewing gum everywhere's on road and pathway, its horrible to see.

SorrySally and Deb - missed your replies.

Yes, I'm a smug bird lol. Playa Blanca is fantastic - and we love it here. We live a little way out of the town, towards the school and industrial estate. I won't post my complex, because you never know what loonies are watching :o) But if you drop me a private message (can we do that in here? I haven't looked yet) then I'll happily tell you, and you can do a Google search or something for it.

You'll both move when the time is right for you. We were lucky in that 2006 was definitely the time for us. I don't have kids, and hubby's kids were old enough to cope. They love coming out here, and divebombing in our pool - bless em!!! They're getting to the age where ladies are soon coming into the equation - and what a kudos for them to say "Come and stay at dad & Elle's place. It's in Lanzarote don't you know".

Don't give up on your dreams! It can happen!

Elle xx

Hi Sally
We have been going to Playa Blanca for over 10 years now & we think it's one of the safest places to visit, the only thing that we don't like is that it has slot machines, we will be back again in September with our family

I agree - HATE the slot machines! I think they make the area seem so down-market. (Maybe I am just a snob!!!) Even the noise grates on me as we walk past. We won't be going this year, I will really miss it but hopefully it won't be too long before we can get back out there. Have a good time in September.

Hi Sally , we first went out over twenty years ago and it has grown !! but much more tastefully than PDC or Costa. I am concerned that it is losing the fishing village look now Rubicon says it all.

I know what you mean Ian, but we must move with the times - if everything stayed as it was 20 years ago then people would say that there was nothing to do, and they would go elsewhere. It is good to have choice as long as it is done in a tasteful way. I actually quite like Rubicon - I love to look at the boats and dream! Mind you, I don't think that I would like to stay in that area, I prefer to be nearer the 'old' village. I wouldn't like to see the island become any more 'British', after all, if that's what we wanted why would we go abroad? Please, no more arcades or British pubs...

I quite agree with your comments,Playa Blanca is a wonderful place to stay,no traffic on the promenade, and i think it has better shops and eating places than Puerto del Carmen, although having said that i often stay in PDC but always hire a car and travel to playa blanca for days out.
