Lanzarote information by people who know Lanzarote

Hi

Can anyone help me, this will be my first visit to Lanzarote & we will be staying at Villa Alliz in Tias(sept 2010), there isn't much info on Tias also has anyone got the address of the bakery also the name of the road where the majority of shops & restaurants are so I can get some sort of idea on maps how far away we are from them. Any info on Tias would be most greatful.

Many thanks

Gill

Hi Gill

Welcome to the site, There is enough people to help you with any queries you may have,
If you Google "street map of tias lanzarote" it will give you the entire area and you can zoom
into were you wish,

The street you are looking for is Calle Libertad, And the junction of Calle Banjamar,
Try some of the croquettes There delicious, There are other shops and restuarants there and
you are only a few minutes walk from the main street, also there is a shop opened about 6 months
ago called Ganges its worth a look in,
I am sure you will have a great time but you will have to visit puerto del carmen its only down the hill past the
golf course, probably about 15 euros or 5 minute drive,
Best Wishes

Hi Gill
I have just looked at your villa it looks great, It does say car not needed but depends on what you want to do
if you want to see the island a car is essential, if you want to relax theres no need, But to go to lanzarote and not see some of the sites is a shame as its fantastic, The more you see the more you will want to come back,
You can book tours some are a rip off but Rafa who runs this site he does trips and by looking at the villa it looks like there may be a gangof you going so it may be worth gettig a price off him to meet and greet you at airport, saves the hassle of queing and getting more than 1 taxi and he is there to run you back, saves the stress of cabs,
Costs nothing for a quote just go to Bookings on top of the page, No obligation,
Have a good one

For dinner try La Ermita (tapas restaurant). Choose 2 "small ones" and 1 with chips. First: ask which ones are with chips (usually the dishes on the left). All the different dishes they serve look and are delicious, but you must have a very big appetite when you order 4 or more. And don't forget to take the profiteroles for dessert.
To complete and end your dinner have a cafe leche leche (grande) con veterano. (espresso with milk, with sugared condensed milk, with canarian brandy)
